Mod Punishing People

Do your mods have their own rules? The other day, I reported a chat that someone was trying to be freaky with me and Benjamin Cole only muted that person, despite several people reporting. After I told him he needs to ban that user, he did. There was a user being homophobic in teen chat and Nemesis instead of getting the person banned because that's what it says in the rules, he just kept telling the people who were fighting the attacker that they needed to stop instead of actually handling the situation and getting the person out. Echelon and Mykel knew that AllsTheMusicMaker had a separate account, and she told me that they knew and showed me screenshots. They ignored the rules and decided to go with their own head to code their rule system for the site. I was just wondering if this was the case because the mods kind of have separate punishments for separate people. There is one mod shoutout though, SUMKINDOFWONDERFUL, she always stays on her A-Game and is always friendly when talking to users.

There are indeed set guidelines but individual modding comes down to individual people, their style of modding and what action they deem fit for what they see in front of them. It also isn't appropriate for another mod to step in and alter/undo/change something another mod's action. If an action taken isn't appropriate, an admin will no doubt step in to rectify both the situation and the action taken by said mod. As for the AllsTheMusicMaker situation, yes Mykel and I became aware of it but the situation was more complex than a straight up ban at that time since there were mitigating factors that gave the benefit of the doubt. She was instructed to make these factors known to the admin team and that they would deal with it as they saw fit which *could* result in an all out ban and that we would not be interfering, which is exactly what happened.

As an ex room moderator, you should know better than anyone that moderators aren’t robots and aren’t going to handle every situation in exactly the same way. If every mod responded identically to every report, there wouldn’t be any need for judgment calls in the first place.

You also kind of contradict yourself here. You’re criticizing moderators for supposedly making their own decisions, while describing situations where you stepped in and told a moderator what punishment they should issue. That’s not really helping moderation, that’s just mini-modding.

Reporting an issue is one thing. Trying to dictate how staff should handle every situation is another. Different moderators may choose different actions based on the context they can see, prior history, evidence available, or site policy. Consistency is important, but expecting every moderator to react exactly the same way every time isn’t realistic.

And honestly, mini-modding often just creates another problem for moderators to deal with instead of helping resolve the original one.

Plain and simple, rules are as posted... Especially with discrimination offenses or sexual offenses. Thos are the most common ones youguys get, so no one in the moderation team should have an issue with those. Here is a quote from the rules in the Teen/Lesbian Teen & Gay-Teen Chat section. "As is the case with all of our chat rooms bigoted and hateful speech will result in a ban. Since race, religious and gay/lesbian specific chats are prone to this type of behavior there will be no warnings given and violators face being banned from ALL rooms!" Anyone who has been modding for more than 2 weeks should know this.

Also, Hayleyy, the statement that I try to say how staff handle EVERY situation is very much untrue and false. In the last week, I have let 1 mod know that a person being sexual in my and others dms, that is not a mute but a ban. It's not mini-modding, it's a simple assist because obviously that mod must have been confused and needed guiding. He even thanked me for helping him correct his mistake.

The only rule you follow is whatever your empty Head tells you to do. We had also people like you in the barracks during my service and we used to send them to clean the latrines. So because you are so paranoid and you see me every where here I Will upload again what you did to my friend thinking it was me. I'll keep on posting over and over so people can see the mess you are. Every thing is saved. Are you gonna deactivate my account I'll come back with an other and another and an other. Did they pick you up as moderator from an asylum for veterans? The rest comes later. Stay tuned moderator of the cesspit. Lick the legs of the other paranoid Chaotic that see me behind every new user the good puppy that you are. Here people can see that you erase whatever doesn't sound nice. For sure it was relevant to the topic.
