Sabrina Carpenter "Yodeling" comment

In the middle of Carpenter’s Friday, April 11, set, one fan let out a zaghrouta chant. (A zaghrouta cheer is commonly bellowed by women in Arab-speaking communities to express overwhelming joy.) Carpenter, 26, confused the chant for a “yodel.”

“Is that what you’re doing? I don’t like it,” Carpenter said, according to social media footage. After the fan attempted to explain the zaghrouta, the singer added, “That’s your culture? Yodeling? Is this Burning Man? This is weird.” What do you guys think? Did Carpenter mean to be rude or was this a pure mistake?

if i go to a concert, I don't mind a little crowd "energy" but I don't want to hear the crowd drown out the performer. I definitely don't want the crowd to distract the performer. I didn't pay to hear or see the crowd become the show.

I don't care if the performer is Sabrina Carpenter or Miley Cyrus or the Rolling Stones or the New York Philharmonic.

I can understand people being excited and hooting and hollering (chanting or otherwise) - that’s pretty common. But agree - if it’s drowning out the performance it can be annoying.
 
It looks more like an awkward, unfiltered reaction than deliberate rudeness.
She clearly had no idea what a zaghrouta is and defaulted to the closest thing she recognised (yodelling).
Most likely a mix of genuine ignorance + her usual sharp on-stage persona, not an intentional dig at the culture.
